5 Web Comics Worth Checking Out:

During my adventures across the web, I have stumbled accross many a web comic. Some funny, some bland, others witty, and others totally stupid. The point is, now I have 5 comics that I can proudly say that I have read every panel for and continually check back every day to read up. Here are my recommendations for you, if you're ever looking for a good read:

SINFEST

Sportsgasm

This is by far my favorite web comic. Created by Tatsuya Ishida, this comic follows the story of Slick, a short spunkly little bro who simply can't get a grip on life. Along the way we're introduced to his large cirlce of friends (Squigs, Monique, Seymore, Little Devil, etc) and hilarity ensues.

The comic updates EVERY SINGLE DAY, with a multi-paneled comic each Sunday. It's definitely worth checking out. The art style is adorable, the jokes are pretty funny, and it's cute even when making fun of religion. It may take you a while to get really into the story-line though, seeing as the archives go all the way back to the year 2000. Yeah, it's beefy.

XKCD

Not Really Into Pokemon

The first comic I started to read religiously. Some of it's jokes may be a bit over my head, but I can't help but fall prey to this comic's charm. Drawn by physist turned comic writer, Randall Munroe. The comics on this site are usually very scientific, or based on computer lingo, but it still has it's funny ones for those of us who are... Less informed. The comic describes itself as:

A webcomic of romance,
sarcasm, math, and language.

And it holds true. The art style is pretty rudimentary, or at least that's how it seems at first (I mean hell they're just stick figures) but as you read on, you notice that Munroe does actually have artistic skill, but just decides to not really use it much. This comic is updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And the archives are full of quality content! Check it out if you want to read some intelligent humor (that will probably just go over your head anyway.)

BUGCOMIC

Popcorn Bucket Blues

This webcomic is probably the most humorous on the list. Drawn by Adam Huber, this comic features a cockroach-resembling protagonist without a name, who is in essence a situational/observational comedian. This comic takes every day practices and reminds you just why you hate them so much. While at the same time, stiking a chord in your heart for the poor little bug. You can't help but feel sorry for this little guy, no matter how stupid his situations are. But at the same time, you can't help but mock his idiocy.

This comic posts every weekday, and the archives go back a couple years. It's definitely worth checking out if you like your humor in small bug-sized portions.

NERF THIS

Exotically Exotic

This comic by Scott Ferguson, is one of my most recently added favorites. The humor is outright stupid sometimes but at the same time witty. The art style changes on a fairly regular basis, but that's to be expected. The artist writes 2 other comics as well (Scout Crossing/ Motokool). But I love the progression of his style. It's gotten so good, and I expect it will continue to improve. The comic is based around the adventures of Chase Connors, an idiot who still manages to get by in life (God knows how) and his little pet monster, Monty. The comic is story based so it helps to read all of the previous comics before jumping in. But the story line is fun, and with plenty of guest comics thrown in, it's a good read.

This comic updates every weekday, so check back often! Although sometimes they posts are just a tad late...

QUESTIONABLE CONTENT

This comic is essentially a sitcom in comic form. Written by Jeph Jacques, this comic centers around Marten Reed and his ever growing social circle. The comic is based on melodramatic humor, indie rock/hipster jokes, and sexual innuendo. It's probably one of the more mature comics on this list. The art style is always changing, but always for the better. Ever since it's start-up in 2003, the drawing style has been being refined. This is definitely worth checking out, if the jokes don't get you, the storyline will.

This comic updates every weekday and archives go all the way back to 2003. I suggest heading to the past to start out, it's a good read.
